5 Things to Celebrate in 2026

1.) Originality beats polished perfection in design
-
Embrace personality this has always been one of our own design philosophies that have guided our work. Now we are seeing this come into play more in the design spaces overall. Stay tuned to see how we contuine this in our design work.
-
Selection of artwork and treasures from travel can easily be incorporated into your design and bonus they tell your unique story.
-
We also absolutely love including kids artwork in the spaces we design.
-
Design tip: Frame the kids artwork professionally and hang it up outside of the children's spaces. For example in the kitchen or a powder room. This works for so many reasons. Not only will it be original artwork. It will be a conversation piece within your home. But the best of all your children will love seeing their artwork up and displayed so beautifully you will be able to see their confidence and pride beaming.
-
2.) Family, friends & enjoying the moments of togetherness
-
Sometimes its so easy to get wrapped up in all the daily tasks we have to do that we forget about savoring the moments we share
-
This year let's embrace all the moments big and small. Each is a moment in time that will never be repeated so remember to live in it fully.

3.) Thankful for Change
-
Perhaps this one feels a little odd but it holds so much more depth. Change can at time be scary but it also means things are moving forward and progress is at work. Change is the difference between being still and stagnant to opening the door to all your dreams. I encourage you to embrace this and use it as a tool to expand your life and move forward to achieve goals.

4.) Design has real influence
-
Design shows up in all aspects of our lives. It's everywhere from the packaging our hair products come in to the local or (big box) coffee shops to the yearly planners we use to map out and organize our lives. May have just dated myself but I do love a pencil and paper planner; something about writing it out just feels right.
5.) Lastly, A fresh start!
-
I know! I know! Cliche BUT it's so true. If last year didn't go how you wanted you get a total rest now. Even if it did go how you wanted you can just add to the story now. In my opinion either way it's a great deal.

I love wallpaper and especially chinoiserie. It has depth, tells a story (without words) and it transports you outside of the space your in immediately. It evokes history, luxury, a sense of enchantment and curiosity. I think what also makes it so special is that each time you look at it you discover something different. It's not that the design changes but rather your curiosity is expanded.
I recently watched a video that explains in more depth the history of chinoiserie. I highly recommend watching it! It's so inspiring and beautiful to watch. The show also highlights Diane Hill whom I discovered on Instagram and have been following for a while now. Diane Hill is based out of London and creates stunning chinoiserie prints, paintings and accessories. She even offers an online course and free tutorials to teach you step by step painting skills to create your own chinoiserie design. I just love that she is creating a more obtainable version of chinoiserie and expanding it beyond wallcovering.
Speaking of expanding beyond just wallcovering you can also incorporate the design into other elements of your home or even a garden party. Click on each image to explore a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

Color Drenching
I am so drawn to this concept of color drenching. It keeps your design palette simple, yet it feels super elevated. Essentially you are balancing the overall backdrop with one hue and by doing so you create a serene environment within your space. The chosen color encompasses everything and the result is a calm, inviting, modern and sophisticated space. It can be a bit intimidating to try but trust me it's WORTH IT! The best way to achieve this look is to paint everything in the room. Typically it works best in a closed off room; i.e. not open concept. All elements including the walls, ceilings, trims, moldings, and built-ins are painted in the same paint color. Be sure to select a color you love since it will be everywhere in the space. If you want to kick it up a notch you can also adjust the sheen slightly. For example, paint the walls in a eggshell finish but paint the doors, trim, and crown in the same color but a semi-gloss finish. This small adjustment works to create a slight distinction between the various elements but they remain harmonious when done in the same colorway.
